The Republican party seems doomed but I am sure they will regroup to fight in four years. Has the Republicans been ruined for a long time or can they remake themselves to compete? What do you envision for their future? What’s your educated prediction? Thanks!

Honestly, they don’t really have to do anything. They just need to sit back, and let the true Obama unfold, and fail miserably. Which he surly will. When the actions, not just words, come to pass the Republican Party will rise to power again without a doubt.

Oh I know…thumbs down for me, but that changes not the fact Obamabots and the media put a marxist who wants to create a private militia and remove the 2nd amendment. JUST CHECK THE FACTS PEOPLE, check his voting record. It’s just that simple to find the truth.

Clearly the party has lost its way. It has embraced values that most Americans don’t share, and abandoned those it once stood for. Do you see a way for the Republican party to again appeal to the majority? What would it look like?

I think the religious right is a big reason that the Republican party took a bit of a nose dive. They were very vocal and appeared to represent themselves as the majority of Republicans. This misrepresentation angered even Republicans and created a lot of in-fighting within the party. They lost their identity and unified front.

Therefore, I believe that for the Republican party to regain its credibility, they need to present themselves without the inflexible and intolerant values of the religious right. They also need to close the door on the loud mouthpieces that just seem to want to bash others without offering positive and alternative solutions (e.g.Rush Limbaugh)

In presenting themselves in a more tolerant, open-minded manner, the Republican Party could easily make a come-back, and even as a Democrat, I hope it does.

At republican rallies, McCain was booed…So if the Republican Party didn’t find him to be a worthy candidate why should I?

McCain has always been very liberal in his Views, During the 2000 Primaries Bush and carl Rove did a nasty smear Campaign against McCain and it worked, this left McCain very Bitter, Mccain had met for several hours with Mass. Senator Ted Kennedy and for a while it looked as though McCain would actually cross party lines and defect to the Democrats , But ultimately he stayed Republican.
McCain only votes republican to stay within Party lines but opposes Republicans far more than What the Obama camp would admit to

The only states that voted more Republican this time around are the deep southern states. You had white southerners voting 9 to 1 McCain over Obama.

I am a Registered Republican, but I am completely fed up with the Religious Authoritarian side of the Republican Party.

We have, and will have, a Republican Party, in 2006, 2008 and there after. Are you talking about a republican majority? If so, as a conservative, I have mixed feelings. The Republicans have spent more money, did only a fair job on Katrina and Afghanistan, and a poor job on Iraq and spending. If they lose the house which is probable, it will help the Republicans in the 2008 race because Pelosi is her own worst enemy.
It will be difficult for the Republicans to lose 3 or the following Senate elections, MO, VA, TN and NJ. If the Republicans win two, they keep the majority. Bush and the Republicans have only done a few positive achievements, but they have avoided an untold number of negative actions. It isn’t that the Republicans are so great, it is that the Democratic alternative is so blindingly destructive.
