We pay Less over here in the UK for Healthcare than American’s do because we don’t allow the Insurance firms to make a monopoly out of peoples need for healthcare.. It’s Greed, plain and simple.
Anything below a certain price is covered by tax payers.
Anything above the standard they pay a little extra to cover it.. Still makes it allot more cheaper over here than in the US..

The military has a built in health care infrastructure that is necessary during war time. So would be being paid for whether they were providing basic health care to our soldiers or not. We provide care (at great cost) to people who are on the whole far more healthy than the average population. This is provided as part of their compensation for agreeing to put their lives on the line in defense of our freedom and liberty. Also, the military is entirely volunteer. So your analogy falls flat.

Over here we believe that every individual owns their own labor (regardless of how needed that labor may be), and can provide it to whomever they wish at a price of their choosing. The UK healthcare system has both Private and Social Healthcare, those that want to pay more can, but we don’t pay for Insurance here and Pharmaceuticals are regulated on how much they are allowed to charge.
